Lower Broadheath Craft Fayre

Posted on Updated on

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get back into organizing events. I gave it up when we moved house and my son was born. But two years later I am back.

elgar craftLower Broadheath is the birthplace of Sir Edward Elgar (the composer guy) and is a wonderfully peaceful and pleasant village. It boasts two pubs, a handful of farms and, rather interesting, not one, not two, but absolutely zero local shops. Wild huh!?!

We decided to do something fun for the village and have organised a craft fayre at the village hall that we hope you will fancy coming along to. There will be over a dozen stalls selling all manner of crafty and homemade items, tea, coffee, cake, childrens play area outside AND live music from Glam Sparrow, Paul Jeffery and Sarah B. There will also be opportunities to try some of the crafts for yourself.

We are really looking forward to hosting this event and hope you can join us.

Worcester Music Festival – A Brief History of Stress and Gratitude.

Posted on Updated on

When ‘The Big Book of Worcester Who’s Who’ is written (you never know, it might one day) I hope the authors will find it in their hearts to include the following as a lasting reminder of a small town boy who dared to dream.

“In 2007 I had a dream. A dream that would bring musicians, venues, music lovers and the general public together in a festival of love, appreciation and enjoyment of live music whilst helping those less fortunate than ourselves. This dream was a dream I dreamt and foolishly tried to make it reality. And a reality it became, born with the co-operation of like-minded people my dream was fulfilled and I could live my life knowing that I had achieved something, and I saw that it was good.”

That is what I hope they’ll print.

In reality I probably won’t get a mention or possibly, if I’m lucky, they’ll write
“Chris Bennion, nice guy, put on a few gigs, called it Worcester Music Festival and then gave up.”

So, I heard there was some sort a gig going on at the Worcester Arts Workshop. We had a bit of trouble with the lighting desk the previous week and me being their occasionally resident sound and lighting guy, I thought I’d better get down there and make sure they had some stage lighting. And I’m so glad I did as I was able to enjoy a wonderful evening of live acoustic music courtesy of ‘A Drop In The Ocean’.

Jack Monopoli kicked off the gig with a rather stunning acoustic solo spot. Read the rest of this entry »

Worcester Soup is a great way to build community support, raise money and make connections that can help you carry out your project.

Simply your idea or project can be anything as long as its aim is to benefit Worcester in some way.

There are only two rules for presenters, the first is you can’t use technology to present and the second is that the idea presented must benefit Worcester City.

It’s Almost That Time Again (oh no it’s not)

Posted on Updated on

Its nearly time to start thinking about the next Pantomime from Norton Theatre Group. I have been writing the script for the past four months. Give it a couple more months and I might be happy with it. … but I doubt it.

I was browsing the internet (procrastinating again) and came across this video (below) which I had forgot all about from 2014/2015. It’s a video by Ruth Wakefield showing the work that goes into putting a show on.It was the second script I had written for the group and contained some great  lines and some bad jokes. .. really bad jokes, really really really ….
